2016 Leadership role

At the 2015 Point England School senior prize giving our school thanked the 2015 Prefects and House Captains for their work, support, and leadership. It was time to hand their role to the 2016 leaders. First Mr Burt had the 2015 Prefects and House Captains on the stage then he announced the Prefects first, "girls first" Mr Burt said, "Khaia, Ariana, Marilyn, Elizabeth G and now the boys, Collin, Jordan, John-lee, Tevita", everyone was cheering, these people had to shake the 2015 Prefects hands on the stage.

"And now the house captains" Mr Burt continues, The 2015 House Captains were on the stage, "Te Aurere(Red) Ashley and Matiu, Hokule'a(Green) Rowana and Sateki, Hinemoana(Blue) Elizabeth and Promise" Mr Burt says, as I was sitting their I was cheering for my friends. Then Mr Burt said my house colour, "Hikianalia(Yellow) Taunese....", I was surprised to hear my name and when I stood up, I saw my yr 8 friends cheering me on ".... and Te Mauri". When I went to shake Leila's hand I saw that she was happy for me. When we shaked each others hands we had to walk off. I was proud of myself as I walked of the stage.

Next year my goal is communicate with my partner and to lead the school well and encourage the kids to best at school. Being a House Captain can be hard and difficult but I will need to brave and to carry on the role that I was handed. I also need  to work  with the other House captains to get the job done throughout the year. Us House captains will also help the Prefects to do their jobs well. Next I will be a good role model and will try my best to be a good House Captain.

Ellerslie Cricket Girls

For the past few weeks our Point England girls has been playing for the Ellerslie cricket club every Saturdays. On our first game it was hot and we were playing against Cornwall  park, some of the girls were nervous because it's their first time, most of us were excited to play cricket again. During the game I was very impressed of how our girls were playing. After the game had finished we were announced the winner. We were ready to go to the McDonald's to buy something cold.

6 games went past and it was our last game for 2015, we were playing the first team we played, which was Cornwall park. Sadly they needed extra player so we gave them 2 of our players, Miss Va'afusuaga, our manager told us for the last 6 games they have been winning their games but lost against us. Some of our girls were nervous but our coach, Greg Va'afusuaga encouraged us to go out their have fun and try our best. Our captain Elizabeth had to do the toss it was either mountains or valleys, it was mountains and we were fielding first. Our fielding was pretty good and our bowling skills were awesome, we got heaps of wickets. Then finally it was our turn to bat, my batting partner was Elizabeth and we were up first. As their bowling's was slow Elizabeth and I could hit 6 and 4's and once I had hit a 6 but it was stuck in the bushes, when Elizabeth and I finished batting we got told that we had beat Cornwall park by scoring 66 runs. We were so amazed but their were more of batting partners waiting for their turns. At last our game was finished, and we finally went to the McDonald's.  we had to leave early so that we can go home and get ready for the Ellerslie cricket club prize giving.

At the prize giving their were other teams who played for Ellerslie but in a different grade, there also prizes. I got heaps of cricket balls and a cricket bag. While our team was receiving their awards we were told that we were coming 1st "YAY!!". Throughout the prize giving we made friends and had fun playing with the sports gear. The prize giving finished and it was time for us to go home, we were sad because we won't have any more cricket games on Saturdays. We had fun playing cricket together, getting to each other better and especially communicating to win. I am looking forward to next years cricket games so we could have more fun.
